Extending the Quality Concept in Geo-Information Processing
نویسنده
چکیده
Recent years in geographical information handling have been marked with constant change and innovation. Geographical information systems and enterprizes have continued to gravitate towards distributed models based on open systems technologies. Increasingly, successful geographical information markets are predicated on robust service infrastructures that offer guarantees on performance, availability, reliability and other critical quality characteristics. This makes a broader concept of quality that surpasses classical notions of spatial data quality and that comprises dynamic aspects of distributed geoprocessing in an increasingly complex Internet environment necessary. The paper reviews the trends shaping the future of geographical information markets, and existing quality frameworks and their limitations in view of current trends. Quality of service is introduced and positioned in the context of distributed geographical information processing as motivation for investigating the scalability of emerging geographical services infrastructures.

Integration of artificial neural network and geographic information system applications in simulating groundwater quality
Background: Although experiments on water quality are time consuming and expensive, models are often employed as supplement to simulate water quality. Artificial neural network (ANN) is an efficient tool in hydrologic studies, yet it cannot predetermine its results in the forms of maps and geo-referenced data. Methods: In this study, ANN was applied to simulate groundwater quality ...

This paper presents a concept for the collaborative distributed acquisition and refinement of geo-related information. The underlying idea is to start with a massive amount of moving sensors which can observe and measure a spatial phenomenon with an unknown, possibly low accuracy. Linking these measurements with a limited number of measuring units with higher order accuracy leads to an informat...
متن کاملExtending the Qualitative Trajectory Calculus Based on the Concept of Accessibility of Moving Objects in the Paths
Qualitative spatial representation and reasoning are among the important capabilities in intelligent geospatial information system development. Although a large contribution to the study of moving objects has been attributed to the quantitative use and analysis of data, such calculations are ineffective when there is little inaccurate data on position and geometry or when explicitly explaining ...

The recent integration of the internet with geo-information systems (GIS) has evolved the concept of Internet Distributed GeoInformation Services. Numerous research and implementation studies of standards of metadata, geo-libraries, data storage and retrieval etc. are being done giving way to exchange and share of geo-information. However, very little effort has gone into making it possible to ...
